I completely agree with you Michael. To deny race is to completely ignore people’s experiences. I think this should have been worded a lot differently as well. Race is a lot different than ethnicity and so are the experiences tied to each. Irish jokes are a lot more different than discrimination. Also it’s a lot easier to tell a friend that their joke hurts than it is to talk about race with a friend or family member. Tim has the privilege to hide his nationality while black, asians, hispanics, and other POC do not have that privilege. Yes all humans should be authentic and love themselves and where they came from. But this article feels tone deaf to me.
